OUR STORY

Medi-Van Canada originated as Crestview Medi-Car. Crestview was formed in Winnipeg, MB in 1976. Bill Leiman started Crestview Medi-Car after his original ambulance business, which he had run for 25 years, was taken over by the City of Winnipeg. Bill realized there was a need for non-emergency patient transfer services which enable the City’s ambulance service to focus on emergencies. With the experience and contacts from the 25 years in business, Crestview Medi-Car became a flourishing business. Within 10 years, Crestview which became Medi-Van Inc. and had a growing fleet of vehicles and service contracts with most of the 11 hospitals in Winnipeg.

In 1992, Bill and Bonnie Leiman retired. Greg Leiman, Bill’s son, and two other employees purchased the business. In 2002, Medi-Van secured a contract with Vancouver Island Health Authority for service in the Victoria, BC area. Greg and his family moved to Victoria to run the Victoria business. In 2009, the service expanded to the rest of Vancouver Island.

Presently the Vancouver Island operation has 24 vans traveling to and from Victoria, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, Powell River, Uculet, the Gulf Islands and travels to anywhere in North America.
